Removing Sway Bar Link Sign In

I am replacing the struts in my 2006 Grand Caravan. I have all the mounting bolts loose except the nut on the sway bar link. I have heated it briefly with some propane and tried holding on to the flat in the back with some vice grips but at this point it’s rounded and I am unable to grip it. Any tips on how I can get it off?

I can’t get a pic to load from my phone but I have linked it below

The trick is not to destroy it in the first place.

The solution now is to cut it off and replace it with a new one.

Re: Removing Sway Bar Link Sign In

Thanks Hammer. I finally got it off but the new strut ( I confirmed they are the correct part) is not aligning at the top three mounting bolts. I am wondering if it’s a defect or if I need to somehow adjust the top or bottom mountings to make it align properly.

Other than rotating the strut to align the holes, there is no adjustment so if the holes truly do not line up, you have the wrong strut.
