Ford Edge spring jumping when steering wheel is turned

Hi there, I have a 2013 Ford Edge that has a sound coming from both side front springs. When the steering wheel is turned a bit, the springs seem to jumps from position to position instead of rotating smoothly. Is this a lubrication issue or is it because the struts have to be replaced? If they do need to be replaced, is this something that I can do myself or will I have to take it to a shop that has a hoist?

Sounds like the Strut mounts are bad Replace both front Strut Assemblies- If you have the proper jack/jack stands and tools, it can be done without a hoist. As long as you support the vehicle safely and chock the rear wheels as well. Not sure of your skill set- may or may not be in your pay grade Always recommended to have an alignment done after replacement. Guess if you look for a video - you can watch and see if you're capable
