Just replaced heater core on 99 merc grand marq due to leakage now i have no heat. blower works fine in all positions just blows cool air. a/c works normal. tried swapping heater core hoses just in case but no help.

With the engine at full operating temp, locate the 2 heater hoses where they go into the firewall and feel them to see if they are both hot to the touch.

In that case you problems are not coolant related.
The heat in that vehicle is controlled by a blend door that regulates heated air flow. it is operated by an electric motor/actuator. The problem can be that the actuator is stripped or inoperative or the door itself could be damaged. This is what needs to be determined by examining the actuator and see if it is responding to heat change commands or not.
Chances are they assembled the box incorrectly and the door is jammed or broken which means it all has to come apart again.

Thanks for the help. You were right the blend door actuautor does not move. When I disconnect the electric actuator I can manually move the door and get hot air. Thank goodness I did not have to remove the whole box again just the actuator. The dash is getting pretty easy to remove now that its been off several times. Again thanks for all your help.

No problem. Thanks for posting back.
Make sure the end of the pivot rod where the actuator connects is not damaged also.

replaced actuator and still no movement. Mayby electrical wire broke? Door moves fine manually.

Did you actually look at the center of the actuator to see if it was turning.

Yes. The arm does not move no matter what position the heat controller is put in.

I'm not talking about the arm. Take the actuator off and look at the center while moving the temp knob. It'd possible for the actuator to work but not move the door.

Tried both. Holding the actuator with nothing connected except the connector it does not move no matter the heat position.

Check your fuses. You could have a bad control hear but it doesn't make sense for the situation. Make sure the control head is plugged in.

There is no reason to tear wire bundles apart, Of course, check your fuses using a test light.
