Hi, I own a 2000, Chevy Monte Carlo, 3800 series 2 engine, 73,000 miles. It makes a noise like somthing is just barely hitting the flywheel when I accelerate. The noise goes away after I speed up past 20 miles an hour or so.

If your only hearing this noise with the A/C on, then your looking at a bad compressor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I am getting very cold air even on hot days and my car is black, if the compressor is bad why am I still getting ice cold air?

That's entirely possible. It just has a bad bearing or something inside but still pumps. It will fail completely eventually.

If you have a Harbor freight store close by you can get a mechanic's stethoscope which you can use to locate the direct source of the noise. You can also get these from most parts stores but probably cheaper from harbor freight. And they will work just as good.

If the noise only appears when the A/C is on, then it's safe to assume the compressor is causing it. The stethoscope isn't going to tell you any more.
