defrost not working properly Sign In

I have a 1995 Chevy Suburban 4x4, V8, 133000 miles on it. The defrost is not blowing through the defrost vents. The heater works well, ie it gets warm inside, but when i turn the knob to defrost it does acts like it is switching but the air does not come through the defrost vents and we hear a whistling sound. if i back it off a little, position the knob between defrost/floor and defrost the whistling goes away, but still not a lot of air flows through the vent. once we get into the truck it will fog up pretty quickly and takes forever to defrost. once we have it defogged if i turn the blower down at all it fogs right back up. I need help as this is our only rig that fits our family.

thanks

Near sure the actuator for that is over the gas pedal with two rods. Those rods can be broken from other work and is messes up where the air will flow. If you can get a glimpse at that watch and see if it moves or if the rods are both in place. See what you find and can see. Went thru this on a 96 Suburban and got lucky and found the broken parts from someone messing in there in a salvage yard with the dash all apart so just grabbed them by hand like nothing but a pill to install if you have a lot of toys and an airbag, if vehicle came with a remote to open doors that stuff is in the way.

If you can see it and it moves but doesn't change where air comes out the actuator could be stripped,
