cool evaporator warm dash air Sign In

1992 Allegro Bay motorhome.
R12 system
107 degree ambient 18% humidity
28-30 psi low side
230-250 psi high side
40 degrees at evaporator outlet tube
79 degree air at vents
I checked the vacuum control doors and everything works fine.
Even unhooked them to operate manually and no change
Seems like it should blow colder than it is.
Hopefully the problem isn't inside the ac box because it is not easily serviceable.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I couldn't guess in a million years exactly what a motor home did. Pressures are right IMO so a diverter door isn't working blending requested temps.

Best bet is some vacuum line is messed up, broken or who knows without being there looking? You seem to have a tight system still by the observations so this is some fool mechanical issues or control thereof IMO,

PS: Worked on mega yachts with God knows what creations so have to dig.............

If you have 40degrees at the evaporator outlet tube, then your evaporator is getting cold and you have warm air being mixed in somewhere. You may have to remove the HVAC housing and disassemble it to find the problem. It may have just lost all it's foam for sealing.

I have to agree that you are getting a hot air mix.......

If you're on the road, a quick fix to get you out of a pinch would be to bypass the heater core. Just hook the 2 heater hoses together & this would remove the hot air source until you have time to fix it properly...
