compressor not running

1993 ford exp having a/c problems, compressor not turning on, could this be a fuse prob under the hood? total a/c was changed out 4 yrs ago because of an accident, 2 yrs ago the a/c blowed hot air but comp was working, and now it doesnt, any advice?

You have to start out with a set of pressure gauges so you can determine if there is sufficient refrigerant to engage the clutch. It will shut off at about 48PSI and under.

River - is this an orig R-12 system or 134a refrigerant?? It could be either depending on where vehicle was made and destined to. I ask because an open 134a system and the year 1993 was the switch year will have oils that absorb water from the air from moisture (hygroscopic) and make the oil acidic and destroy parts!
There was when new a sticker underhood that should have been put back telling just what you have and the quantities.
Speak for myself - I would need to know that to make further suggestions on what to do,

I hope your right! Stories of dead orig 134a systems or accidents abound of total destruction due to acids with water in air infecting oils of the PAG type. The destruction takes some time and can be prevented. Folks should know that R-12 was king but making it new was ceased in 1993 by an Accord of nations but not all! Still fully available but restricted and bit more money and personally I changed my mind and suggest staying with the original refrigerant. It will cost more per unit than 134a.
Desiccant (driers) for either would be near impossible to renew without the always suggested replacement of those. Most are not very expensive.
My issue with staying R-12 is that the orig condenser if still there is better or tougher than HE ones. Some vehicles won't be converted with satisfying BTU power of A/C without the newer HE condensers.
Much depends on the climate the vehicle will be used in on that. Here - near small rocks in the sand used in Winters destroy the lighter condensers. Becomes an annual event to get a new one for some!
