If vacuum doesn't hold on the gauges with the valves closed, you have a leak somewhere in the system or your gauge set. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

You should be able to "vacuum" just your gauge set without the van. If set's "park" spots for the connectors are not sealing I'd make up sealing dummy ports to test set. Sorry to say a whole lot of affordable gauge sets really stink and not all so called high end ones are so special either so worth being able to test them and a there is a good reason to be able to vacuum out your set as well, -- keep air out of even lines, T
