There are lots of 134A products on the market. Is there a preferred or better brand the pro's use in their shops?? Or ones to stay away from? Jim

Pure R134A is the same product, regardless of who made it. What you need to stay away from are the gimmick products that have other chemicals included.

As HT said - pure product only and would shop price. Only real trouble I've had was the dang container's shut off leaking (real annoying) or if by 12oz cans make sure they all weight the same new. Have found several low or less than listed weight or empty! Can't really say who makes the containers to guard against that?

A caution: If and should use by weight, weight the container if you have finished ones from same lot. Brands are NOT the same tare weight either small cans or 30 lb bottles w box.
Ave: 12oz can empty = 3.2oz
30 lb w box empty is close, ~ 5.5 lbs

Thanks for the responses. I asked as in my search I found information like this. Because of articles like this I would not buy any gas online!

This is a copy and paste.

There are hundreds of indigenous R134a refrigerant brands in China of which nearly 80% are thought to be counterfeit. Many of these counterfeits are dangerous and potentially lethal. Some contain hydrocarbons or even liquified petroleum or other flammables which is said to have led to car fires, explosions and injuries. Some contain R134a plus R12 or R415A (a flammable mixture of R22 and R152a) or R406 (a mixture R142b, R22 and isobutane). There have also been well-reported incidents of R40 (methyl chloride) being used – the component which was blamed for explosions and three deaths in the reefer industry in 2011.
Other fakes are just of low quality, impure and moisture-laden which accelerate the wear of automobile compressors or cause components to leak or malfunction. (link not allowed) Jim

Point taken on counterfeit products and the dangers of them. By nature compressed condensable gasses are dangerous alone up to highly flammable ones.

I/we could name brands that have been trusted but can't verify they are even owned by the brand name on a container anymore or last week.

I would buy locally, read labels and on larger containers look for a tamper evident seal which could just be shrink wrapped plastic with the company's name on it.

Hey- there's some risk in about anything you can buy that it contains or is exactly what it states,

That is something I should have warned you about. Don't buy any refrigerant made in China. American made only.

People making counterfeit products in China would never violate international laws by printing "Made in USA" on package. That would be illegal : )

I don't buy anything that can be of a safety nature off Ebay or Amazon. I have also seen fish farms in Asia and would NEVER eat farm raised fish from there! Jim
