Hey all, first time posting,

I am hoping to troubleshoot my girlfriend's broken 2008 Mazda CX-7 A/C. I'm not sure exact mileage and engine size but it's under 40k and a 6 speed automatic, I hope that is helpful. Basically the problem is that it blows hot. Air still blows, the controls for blowing strength off/low/medium/high still work, and the heat still works (i.e. turning it hot makes it get hot, not just outside temp). But, if it's turned to cold temp and A/C on, the coldest it will get is the outside temperature.

It would be cool if this is something I can fix myself, but not necessary. I'm no mechanic but am comfortable taking things apart and troubleshooting (I've installed car stereos and replaced dashboard light bubs, etc.), and I can follow directions.

Any tips on troubleshooting things to try?

This is not a job to learn on. The first step here is to use a set of professional gauges to take pressure readings to determine if there is even enough refrigerant in the system to engage the compressor. In a 2008, I would think it's still under warranty anyway.
