Saturn 99 SL Overheat Sign In

I have been keeping up on the maintenance on my 99' SL and it just started to overheat on the way home from work. I checked the antifreeze and other liquid levels. I also noticed the ac will run but it has not always put out the cold air for the last two days either... any suggestions??

Easy to say but DON'T LET IT OVERHEAT! The two issues could be explained by the fan(s) not coming on properly or at all. Check for that first. In general when A/C is requested a fan will be on soon underhood if not instantly,

I haven't let it overheat yet. Last thing I need is a cracked head. I noticed though the AC will turn on sometimes when I'm driving it. Again this has all started the last two days so I have been babying it. I also noticed that with my car the Temp will go down when I turn the AC on not the heater. Now its not the case.

Don't know whether this is using two or one fan but doesn't really matter. What is almost certain with those symptoms is lack of fan. They or it is triggered by engine temp alone or anytime A/C is being used so if the sensor and system to kick it on for plain engine temp isn't working then the A/C was forcing it on.

At speed - say above 35 or so most cars have fairly adequate air flow just from moving along.

It's almost certain fan for whatever reason isn't coming on. Could be fan motor, relay, sensor or perhaps a fuse. Have to check them all but I'm about certain it isn't coming on.

Try with everything off and keys out to see if the fan for radiator and the A/C's condenser even turn with a small stick NOT you fingers! If not fan motor may have seized up,
