How much did it cost to replace the rear lines ? Can you use rubber hoses instead ? JC

Moved your post away from a VERY long and old thread.

The lines going to a rear heater could be replaced with common hose so long as the connectors ends could be reused. Case by case inspection and harware store barbed unions could do that with some added restriction of flow and it could be done. Replacement ends might be available if they are the trouble area,

i had similar issue with rotting of rear heater lines at the under carriage right where they kick up to come around the spare tire and then as well right at the bend near the bumper where the lines enter the heater at the passenger rear tire...spoke with my kia dealer, he told me that replacements were common and showed me that he stocks 5-6 sets on hand at all times, at a cost of nearly $400.00 not including labour. He suggusted is money was a factor to simply pick-up some heavy duty tubing and plastic connectors at the hardware store and completely re-run the lines from where i needed to to where it was convienient to patch back in, i did this almost 2 years ago and haven't had a problem since.....will say though that refilling lines and getting all air out of system sucked--had to park front of van on big slope in the front ditch and the rad would only take fluid at a turtles pace...but haven't had any issues since, well worth the aggrivation.
