Re: Chevy Uplander AC issues Sign In

I have an '07 Uplander LS. On mine, last fall the drivers vents did blow warmer than the passenger side and the AC wasgenerally weak. This spring when I tried to use the AC there wasn't any as the system was near flat. They replaced the compressor and now it does blow evenly cool from all vents. Soooo from my point of view, I think you have a low charge. Have them check charge and see if there is a leak.

However, I'm not sure its all fixed. On the last trip I was running AC with fan in the lowest or second lowest position and the cold setting about 20% below middle (no heat no cool) setting on an all day interstate trip. I noticed that the AC stopped blowing cold from the passenger side vents. I turned off the ac and let it run for a while and then it was fine for the rest of the trip. This would be a classic symptom of the cooling coil icing up. Why would it ice up, I don't know for sure as there are many ways to cause it. it could be misadjusted control, could be odd set of conditions, or could be low charge.

Anybody care to suggest a cause?

As for me I am going to be taking it out two weeks on a 8 hour road trip and will keep my eye on it. If it freezes up again, it means its probably low on charge.

All this is classic for a leak and low charge. The hard part is finding the leak. If an exposed part it would usually show up as oily. Pressures needed to verify much of anything - rent or buy but they help with diagnosis big time,
