Hello. I bought my 03 Saturn L200 at from a Saturn dealer with only 2000 dealer miles on it. From Day 1, the heater and AC temperature controls never worked. I took it back repeatedly and dealer kept denying there was a problem. After warranty ran out, they admitted there was a secret TSB about the heater but, of course, then I was not eligible for warranty work. I lived with this problem for years. Three months ago, I took the 79,000-odometer Red beauty to a local Chicago suburb Chevy repair shop to suss out the problem, which of course they found immediately. It needed a new heater core. But....again, after taking it home, the AC and heater never seemed to work the way it should. It still only blew out very hot or very cold and nothing in the middle. Took it back today as they gave me a 1-year warranty. They said it required a software update on the heater core. All I can say is "yea" and good luck to anyone else with a Saturn that has heater/AC issues. Wink

You bought a 12 year old car with a manufacturer that no longer exists. You didn't expect any problems?

If this is a manual control AC system, then there is no software to even update. The temperature control is operated by a cable. That can be checked for proper operation pretty easily. There's always the possibility that they broke something inside the heater box when they changed the core also.

My post was specifically directed to those Saturn owners who have heater/AC issues. The HVAC control head and module with calibration may fix the problem. Turns out the service dept forgot to do the mandatory calibration 3 months ago when they was replaced. They did that today; they just called it a software update to cover themselves.

I mentioned I purchased the car new in 2003. It would be quite a challenge to purchase a Saturn from a dealer today. My '03 L200 ran seamlessly for the last 14 years for 77,000 miles.

I was under the impression that you just bought the car. Apparently you have an auto temp control system as the manual system just uses a cable. Most of those will self calibrate if the battery cable is disconnected.
