Re: OVER HEATING VAUXHALL VECTRA Sign In

Seems the origin of the leak is now fixed - good. Now the issue may be that the cooling system isn't totally full. Many don't fill full just from adding to a remote bottle (recovery tank) and take cycles of warm ups/cool downs to burp out air in the system. That or some vehicles will place bleeders up high to help speed up proper filling.

The thermostat is a stopper so air can be trapped but appear full at first.

Now the bad news: Overheating can easily cause engine cooling system gasket problems resulting in leaks unseen or seen. Some can push combustion gasses into cooling system which will behave like air in the sytem and never cool properly with that condition.

You must first know the system is properly filled with proper suggested mix which is usually 50% water and 50% antifreeze. Go by what operator's manual suggest but that is the common suggestion for almost everything.

When heater will blow warm/hot air it's usually a sign that you are close. It can quit blowing heat if low or oddly when overheating as the boiling bubbles won't transfer heat!

Hard to do but don't allow it to overheat if at all possible. Stop, fill, wait. Always use total caution as system is holding pressure and removing pressure caps can cause instant geiser of scalding fluid and vapors!

If problem just won't stabilize you need to check or have it checked for gasket and or other damage - hope not,

T
