Just paid $925 for new compressor and ac still broke

I have a 2006 Honda Element with 205,000 miles. The ac has always been very cold and had no issues. During the past couple weeks while I was running the ac, the fan would continue to blow but the air would warm up and then get cold again - all within a couple minutes. Then it just stopped cooling and would only blow warm air for a couple days. I took it to a local ac repair shop that has great reviews and they said it needed a new compressor and also 2 other parts that are attached to the compressor. I had them do the repair and it cost $925 plus tax. Picked my car up this past Thursday afternoon and it was running cold, although I didn't think it was as cold as it had always been before. On Friday afternoon, the air started to blow warm again for a minute or so and then cool again. It did this a couple times while I was driving and then just stopped cooling again and only blows warm air. I feel like there was a different problem all along and I probably didn't even need a compressor. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions? If I never needed a compressor, I'd like to be able to argue that point and I don't know anything about car ac's. Thanks, Jamie

The system has an apparent leak somewhere. It's possible that he misdiagnosed the leak or it's possible he created a new leak in the sealing process. Either way you need to take it back to him to check again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I agree with Tom. You should take it back. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
