Help needed for recharging refrigerant in car AC Sign In

I bought a Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Diesel Dynamic in June 2010. Unfortunately, it had a leak in the AC and all the R134a refrigerant leaked within a few days. Now, after fixing the leak, the service centre is unsure of what should be the charge amount or the target discharge-side (high) pressure reading of the refrigerant when recharging the AC with the engine idling at 800 rpm. Ambient conditions may be taken as 35 degrees Celsius and 90% relative humidity. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can be emailed at personal info deleted

I'm not familiar with that model but the shop should have access to data that would tell them the correct charge.

A rule of thumb for fahrenheit is to measure the ambient temp going into the condenser and times it by 2.6 and that should be close to your high side pressure. converting your temp, it would be 95 x 2.6 = 247lbs psi. The problem by doing it this way is you're ASSUMING there isn't any cooling problems affecting the high side reading. If there isn't and problems then that should get you pretty close, if there is another problem, then you'll either overcharge the system or undercharge it.....

That's why you start out with the correct charge 1st and then look at the pressures. If the number say what they are suppose to say & it's cooling correctly, the system is good. If it has the correct charge and the numbers are off, then there is a problem and you diagnose the system according to what pressures you are getting.............
