Heater blows cold air Sign In

2004
Chevy
Monte Carlo
3.8L
96,000 miles

My heater in the car is blowing cold air. The car runs at about 140degrees pretty constant once it warms up. The coolant is full. I felt the hoses going to the heater core and they are both hot to the touch. Not really sure what other info would help but I can give anything else needed...any help is appreciated.

140 degrees is definitely not hot enough. The thermostat regulates at 195 and the fans are programmed over 225 degrees. I suggest to install a new 195 thermostat and flush the cooling system.

Ok I don't know where I got the 140 from, but it actually runs about 180-190 when its up to temp. I did flush the radiator today and no change. I don't have any codes either. I tryed the defroster today and that also blows cold air. The air coming out seems to be A/C cold to me, its cooler then room temp for sure.

You may have some blend door issues under the dash but I think your still running too cool on the temperature. It will effect the fuel mixture because the computer won't go into closed loop.

You should be getting some heat, even if it's not real hot. You likely have a problem with the blend door or blend door actuator.

Re: Heater blows cold air Sign In

What can I do to check the blend doors or actuator?

Climb up under the dash and remove it and see if it is working and if the door is stuck.
