GAS PEDAL LOSES POWER WHEN AC IS ON. Sign In

So I started noticing that my car's gas pedal would occasionally stop working even if I pushed it down to the floor. I would have to pull over and restart the car for it to work again. Then one day it happened and I instinctively shut off the ac to try to see where I was going to pull over and the peddle started working again immediately. So I didn't use my ac for a whole week straight and my car never had a problem with losing power, so now when I use my car, if I have ac going I am ready to shut it off if I lose power. Obviously, I would like to be able to drive without the worry of whether my car will do this again so I am looking for help to figure out what the exact problem is.

My car is 2004 Nissan Altima 2.5

The term "loses power" is pretty subjective. It's normal for AC to add load to some degree but it shouldn't be real noticeable.

The first thing I would do is have the computer scanned for any stored codes and go from there.

Would I do that with the same machine used when the check engine light comes on?

Factor any recent work that may have required anything A/C such that it needed to be discharged + filled again. Done wrong could be the cause also not sure that would show a warning code for that.

Get going on this if it busted a belt you may not be able to use the car at all!

You car has an electronic "Drive by Wire" throttle system so if it is cutting out there HAS to be codes stored in the computer. Your code reader is probably insufficient to access these particular codes.

IDK defaults for A/C I mentioned just by all odd cooler then and you added by some color gauge - none accurate if you knew how to do that.

Not likely car seems old should shut down A/C if way out of spec on the high side or so out of ranges plain not work no matter what you request?

This "nothing" throttle response is probably something else needs a better scan, IDK why most vehicles work A/C if defog/defrost is used unsure which cars OFF really means it can't even try?
