That's not how refrigerant works. It's a gas. The system needs to be drawn down to a vacuum and held there for 30 minutes to boil away the moisture and remove all the air before charging.

Ohh, sorry for not being clear enough, I meant the charging hoses.
I use a servicestation so I recycle whats left in the charging hoses after jobs done, but it usually contains
1,5 - 2,5 oz of refrigerant in the 118 inch hoses, should I compensate for that when programing charge weight ?

That's hard to say. The accuracy of every machine is different. Newer machines have to meet a smaller margin of error that older machines. Most good machines are designed to factor that in.

Ok, thanks.
I am new to automatic servicestations and we just got a Ariazone 5001 FAHD that I am trying to get used to.
How much oil should the refrigerant contain when recoverying from a working ac system ?
I have done some cars with no oil recovered and wonders if they may be low on oil and if one can calculate how much oil should have been recovered and fill it up with the same amount ?
Is there a formula for oil/refrigerent percentage ?

TIA Pinch

That machine should meet the new standards of accuracy withing .5 ounce. There is no standard for how much oil comes out. It depends how long the system has been shut down and how quickly it is recovered. that's why they tell you to drain and measure it. It also depends on how serious the leaks are in the system whether it has lost it's own oil. I always add at least a couple ounces on a complete recharge.

Just to add: Purging hoses ( don't go nuts) shouldn't really be in the count and YES 134a systems really like to be on target weight,

Thanks guys, when playing around with the machine I found out where to program the service hoses compensation.
I am starting to get used to this machine now and it really makes my job easier.
Should have got it long time ago Smile

Have to learn your equipment - no games. Smile - much of my work with A/C was (retired) accident damage repair. Systems empty and have a vacuum pump that can suck a golf ball thru a garden hose - smile.

Whatever machine know how to use it! NO AIR, NO MOISTURE or you'll pay later,

Tom
