Car getting hot while driving, cooling down when I stop.

My car has had a leak in the radiator and when the coolant got low the car would get hot when it sat and cooled down when i would drive. After having major repair on it and using some stuff to plug up the leak in the radiator the car was randomly rising and falling in temperature. It wasn't a problem. However, the past 2 days when I would drive the temperature would would rise as a accelerate and would drop as I began to stop. It even got so hot the car shut itself off. Now this is only what my temp gauge is showing me. I don't smell the burning smell I used to when my car got hot. Does anyone know what causes this change in the patterns of the car getting hot.

That's that part of your post that concerns me. Almost sounds like you'll plugged up your radiator with it. Feel the radiator it there is a lot of area's that are cool then you're probably looking at a new radiator. To get a little more accurate info provide the year make model and exactly what repair have been done besides putting in stop leak.

I had the cat converter replaced, new header, new cam shaft, some new belts after they snapped, and the A/C compressor was removed after it froze up. It's a 1990 Honda Accord. I've been wondering if it could possibly be clogged, but what would cause it to change the way it got hot? Is the engine having a hard time breathing?

I'm not real sure what you mean by a "have a hard time breathing"

It's very possible the rad could be clogged. If you got the car hot enough where it shut off you may also what to get the cooling system checked for exhaust gases. You may also be looking at a head gasket problem......

I meant had a hard time breathing like the exhaust is clogged and all the exhaust has no where to go. However, wouldn't a clogged radiator act like it did when it was low on coolant? Getting hot when it's sitting, cooling down when your moving and air is moving over the engine, and getting a burning smell. It just baffles me that that's what it used to do but now it does the complete opposite.
