Can I recharge it myself? Sign In

2001 Dodge Neon, my brother-in-law and I were replacing the radiator, and he accidentally disconnected the A/C, which immediately released all of the Freon. Can I recharge it from scratch using a Sub-Zero kit or do I have to take it in to get it charged completely?
Thanks.

with the right equipment it can be done. The A/C system needs to be vaccummed down to remove any mosture the may have enter the system when the line was disconnected. there should be a tag some place under the hood with the amount of freon that is need to recharge the system to the right level as under or over charging the system, it is not going to work the way it should. i recomend taking it to a shop that has the equipment to do the job right.
