Camaro Serpentine belt

Serpentine belt on a 1991 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI vin "E" engine. Trying to install a new serpentine belt, the repair manual states to use a 15mm socket in the tensioner and rotate it clockwise. The tensioner I have in the car has a torx bolt in it, not a bolt, I used the proper size torx bit but can not move/rotate the tensioner and I afraid if I put too much pressure on the wrench I will strip the threads of the torx bolt. Am I attempting to do this properly? or am I heading in the wrong direction? Any help would be grateful.

Some confusion with the tensioner for this. No 308 is listed? Two are shown as the entire unit. I don't really care if the bolt was changed or OE HEX type for the pulley or where it mounts for now. Just to retract it just look at the direction the pulley needs to go to release the tension on the belt. This first on should use a 1/2 inch flex handle, or with an extension to release tension. New belt should settle with more room to accommodate wear and some show clear indexing. The two shown are like this..........
Pulley alone is available and that looks like 15mm hex bolt but we aren't there yet - you need to get this assembly off first for many. Other type looks like this...........
This one didn't show the pulley fastener itself but to retract this appears a special tool or carefully get a pry tool in there to release tension. Then you can decide if you want/need the entire unit or just the pulley or just the belt which was your listed intention.
You don't need to remove this assembly at all to just replace the belt,

PS: TMK - None of the bolts are reverse threaded to remove and shouldn't need to for just retracting the belt tension*

I think he may be trying to rotate the bolt that holds the tensioner on here. It's the bolt on the pulley that you want to grab or as you see in the picture Tom posted, there may be a square hole in the housing that you can put a ratchet in.

Thanks Hammer Time, looking at it, that makes sense, I'll give that a shot also, I'll post later today or later in the week and let you all know if it worked.

Thanks you guys, the square hole was the correct solution, 3/4" short extension on a breaker bar worked perfectly, thanks again.

Boomer and other readers: That is a common one and way to retract tensioners. Beware - some aren't so easy to get at and some to replace a belt (transverse engines - some) require removing a motor mount! One warning is to watch out for where flex handle will rest when belt if OFF as it naturally will be able to strike something expensive if you just let go!
