1999

The freon is full in system and pressures are good, but air condtioning works intermittently, seems worse when extremely hot out-it will cool for alittle while and then quit. It works again later when turned off for awhile but not real good. Also, when a/c is on whether working or not, my car now does not shift properly from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th OD until I shutoff a/c completely and then it shifts Great. Any ideas??

Thanks, Vince

One problem per question please.

Exactly how much refrigerant is in the system right now and what are both the high and low pressure readings at both idle and 2000 RPMs?

Not sure since the car was at my general repair shop earlier today and they rechecked it since it was out of freon a month ago and they could no find a leak, so they recharged it and added a tracer dye and it is full today and no leaks found again. This intermittent problem, I did not have until a week ago and the shifting problems with a/c on just started today. They think it might be a thermal switch on a/c compressor or bad compressor itself. It is original compressor. They had no idea about the shifting problem that just started but it shifts great when a/c is turned off.

Thanks again,
Vince

If you own a shop I shouldn't have to explain to you that I need data to tell you anything. You know we don't use the crystal ball method.

I don't own the shop, I meant it was at the shop where I get my repairs done. I am not mechanic and I know you don't have a crystal ball. I just wanted to know if you had any ideas about a possible electrical problem or if you might have an idea why and if possible the shifting of transmission could be related since that problem only occurs when a/c is on whether a/c is working at that time or not?

Thanks, Vince

I've already told you that the 2nd problem requires another question and without any info on your A/C problem, we are totally in the dark.
