AC only blows through defrost vents

This is my wife's 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. The air blows cold but it only blows through the defroster vents. Any suggestions?

I think this still uses engine vacuum to run the actuators. If so you'll find a broken vacuum line probably near firewall under hood. Default would be defrost only and vacuum line is likely stiff plastic and may look like wire - gets brittle but if you find that can be done with good grade rubber hose even if just a splice,
