AC blowing hot air suddenly Sign In

Hello All, I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty with a 3.7 . It's 4 wheel drive and has 60,000 miles on it. We were coming home today from PA and the AC went from blowing ice cold to blowing very hot in a matter of minutes. HELP! Thanks, Bob

Is the compressor running?

The 1st thing you can do is turn the system on and look at the compressor and see if the clutch is engaging.

If it isn't the next thing to do is check the refrigerant charge in the system to make sure there is enough to turn the system on.

Going off what you posted it sounds like the charge will be fine and you will be looking at an electrical or mechanical problem. But a lot of time can get wasted bypassing that step only to find out there was a leak and that is the problem....

As Sidom said check the charge.

Bad news is these things eat evaporators for lunch and they are not easy or cheap,

Nothing, you wait until it's not working. You can't fix what isn't broken. It can only be diagnosed during a failure.

If it happens again, try swapping the a/c relay to see if it makes a difference.....

As HT eluded to......These intermittents can be a PITA to diag..........
