AC blower needs push start to turn Sign In

97 Honda CRV

With the car running and AC on the fan doesnt turn. The air in the car blows pretty well inside though. I can take a stick and push the fan, then it spins and continues to spin. AC inside car doesnt seem any better or worse either way.

Since the fan will turn and keep turning I was thinking maybe the motor and ground are good? I was wondering where to troubleshoot next? relay? switch? wiring?

Any suggestions, please. .

That's pretty simple. You have a bad fan motor. Replace the motor and you'll be fine.

Re: AC blower needs push start to turn Sign In

right on. I got new fan from go-parts.com for $45 plus shipping (as opposed to 129.99 from national retailers), and it works great.

thanks again guys.

the bad news is on my 92 accord LX I found the smallest of cracks on top of my radiator, and if I can't seal it, I'll have to replace it. If that happens I'll be back for more advice...

Take care.

Don't even try sealing it. Your wasting your time. It's made of plastic. It not only expands and contracts with heat but it runs under pressure. Any repair will not hold. It's been tried time and time again. Just replace the radiator and don't risk hurting your engine.

That's a shame. truth hurts I guess, but less now than later if it were to cause worse damage.

We all would rather band-aid it than spend the extra money....but alas...

Yes, if you overheat that badly even once, you will blow a head gasket, crack a head or totally fry the motor. It's not worth the risk.
