A/C blowing hot air when at low RPM Sign In

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus with a 3.0 V-6 at 117,000 miles. I have had the car for some time and really love it, however, just yesterday, I had to replace the plastic coolant tank connected to the firewall. I did that and filled it to the needed level. I ran the car and saw no leaks. The car ran hot for a small amount of time as I was only a few blocks from home when I noticed it, but never got at or above the "H" on the gauge.

Unfortunately, now, when the car is at idle (in or out of gear) the A/C blows warm air. As soon as the car gets to 25 MPH and above, the air is as cold as before the replacement. Did I do something wrong? Is there something wrong with the system, computer or heater core? Please advise. I can do some things, but the A/C is out of my reach right now. Thanks.

It sounds like your cooling fan may not be working properly.

Can this be from a fuse or a bad fan motor? Or is there something else I should look for? Thanks for the reply.

It can be any of those things and a lot more. You just have to check it and find out. Check the fuses and try to run power and ground directly to the motor to see if it's any good. Beyond that, your going to need some electrical testing equipment and electrical knowledge to go any further.

Re: A/C blowing hot air when at low RPM Sign In

I started thinking and my original post may not have been in the order it should have been. The car ran hot because of a crack in the coolant tank. After I replaced the tank and refilled it, it has not run hot at all. It's just the A/C part that has me confused. I only ask because my wife can't stand it without A/C and I need to "TRY" and please her.

Did you LOOK to see if your fan works?
