AUTOMOTIVE A/C QUICK FIX WARNING

SOME POINTS TO PONDER:
Why do you need to charge your system?
Is there ANY refrigerant in the system??
What is the static pressure in the system now??
What are the operating pressures of the system??

Is there a leak??
How will you know when the system is correctly charged?
How will you know if you are overcharging the system??

WARNING:
Charging a dry system without evacuating the air and moisture that have seeped in there will change a minor leak fix into a major (say "expensive") retrofit or repairs. The air will raise the operating pressures, impede cooling, and form an acid with the refrigerant that will corrode the system from the inside out, and the moisture will bond with the oil and form a gunk that will burn out the compressor and cause it to pump metal all over the system. There must be a reason why EVERY A/C shop performs a vacuum and leak check on every system that comes in empty!

A/C shops make a lot of labor money from people replacing damaged components in A/C systems that have been "fixed" with Wally-World type A/C fix kits ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE STOP LEAK IN THEM. Before you get to be another one of them, how about sharing your problem with us, and allowing an opportunity for us to guide you to doing it right? There are professional people that are willing to share their expertise with you - free of charge. Try that at the local A/C shop!

Do it right, and do it once. A/C shortcuts now turn into money pits later!!
