I have a 94 Beretta 2.2l and the A/C hose burst so I ordered a replacement for it. The replacement is a few inches longer which isn't all that good...it seems that I can't get the hose in the right position without there being 2-3 kinks in the rubber. I can get it to the point where it's only about halfway kinked, but there's no way I can get it right. Is this going to cause some major problem with the A/C?

You should be able to bend the metal part just enough to get the kinks out but if you can't just bring it back and get the right one if it's really longer than the original.

I've already done that and got it as close to the original as possible... Personally I don't understand why the new one kinks so easy compared to the old one... I took and compared the lengths and the new one is less than an inch longer... I also tried bending the old one and it doesn't want to bend like the new one does. It's a specialty hose that has the suction line and the liquid line as well as the piece to the compressor, and both of the valves on it. It looks exactly like the old one so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here...

Did you buy it from the dealer?

No the dealer didn't have it in stock so they gave me the part number and I ordered it through Advance Auto on special order like they told me to. Since the system isn't charged yet is it possible that the pressure will take out the kinks?

I seroiusly doubt it. Remember in Winter the pressure will drop dramatically inside the system. In fact - kinking at all is harming the hose. If you can't bend metal to get it happy and out of harm's way you should get another. Do keep system plugged so air can't enter if apart if you wait for another hose. The oil doesn't like exposure to the moisture in air,

You just bought a low quality reproduction from a company that is known for selling junk. Taking advice from them is an even worse idea. If you want it to work correctly, order real OEM parts from the dealer

Plenty do and the huge chains are the worst offenders. Saving on several areas is just no bargain and cheap A/C stuff can compound to needing it all over again and more because of a bad part. New pure refrigerant should be ok to go for price,

I called Advance Auto about a refund.. and they won't do it since it was a special order part. Honestly I only need this car to last me one more year... it has 183,000 miles on it and I just need A/C for ONE more year. I already spent $100 through Advance Auto on the first hose and I'm not about to buy one through the dealer for a 16 year old car that they stopped making 14 years ago... it would be financial suicide.

A few choices: Get the dang district manager of Advance if needed to get the right fitting part or your money back special order or not it doesn't fit properly. If they can't deal with parts that fit then they should get out of the kitchen!
Side note: Auto parts is a growth industry despite the economy in general they (larger chains) have done better than the year before!
If you are really stuck with it and it wont stop kinking at the length you could find out who has the crimper set to make your own hoses and shorten it. I'd cut out the area that already kinked.
Way back when A/C hoses were clamped much like cooling system hoses. You would need a tight fitting barbed, brass connector (hardware store stuff) and best to find "full circle" hose clamps vs ordinary worm gear clamps and use two on each end.
Remember the inside of that hose is a "barrier" matierial because unless it was new very old stock rubber parts that might use R-134a need better hose than the old R-12 as the molocules are smaller and can leak thru without a flaw in the old type hose.
A/C hose like vacuum hose in vehicles must be made not to collapse in a vacuum.
If you do try hacking it just make sure it holds a vacuum for a couple hours. Then just weigh in a few ounces of refrigerant and you should get a static pressure of about the air temp in Fahrenheit in the whole system. Bubble check that connection like you would for a tire with soapy water before wasting a charge on it.
Hey - you said "it's a 16 year old car" - too bad - they still make stuff for tons older than that. You may not find original OEM parts for some stuff so easy but you can find quality that will work,
