Thanks for the previous help in this forum!

This is on the 6.8L V-10, 90K mi

Front blower motor was working for about an hour on multi-hour trips. Then would slow down by itself (less and less air flow), then stop. Motor not heating up (it gets cold air from the attached rubber hose). After a while, sometimes still driving, other times after a stop for a while, returns to normal operation.

Now while recent in city driving it has stopped completely. Some time ago I replaced resistor block which it needed and fixed that problem, and have a spare blower motor to put in, but I pulled the current motor and applied battery and it spins fine.

Seems blower was getting intermittent power and now none? I will check resistor block connections, connectors could be rusty, anybody think of anything else?

Thanks! Tim

Check all your wiring plugs for something that looks melted. You probably have one of them that has gotten too hot over time and now has a poor connection. Those blowers motors themselves will act that way too.

Intermittent stuff is a PITA as you know.

Do your best to verify connections. If spade type (I'm better at car stuff than trucks) sometimes a twist with needle nose pliers gives the connection a better grip. WD-40 IMO is helpful for connections.

It may need or want more grounding of the metal of the assy. Nothing wrong with carefully adding a ground strap type wire.

I can only guess but am guessing that the motor itself is plain tired. I don't think they are all that expensive and near none are serviceable. If you do one - take special care to look at replacement as some nuts for the squirrel cage are reverse threaded.

Good luck. Many (famous last words) blowers are not hard to replace,

I will be checking connections tomorrow and advise thanks.

Re: Pulling blower motor, Every time I open that little hood and see that V-10 stuffed in there I think how impossible it is for a driveway mechanic like me to work on it (of course there's access from the pax compartment too). But the blower motor is relatively accessible and I got it out OK. Probably put the spare in when I check the connections.
