I have a 99 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.3 liter, last week it started overheating while waiting in traffic. The temp would go down if I turned off the air and started moving. We drained the antifreeze, changed the thermostat, filled up with antifreeze/water and tested the level of the antifreeze. All was fine until today, 3 days after the work we just did, I left it running while I cleaned out the van, did a few errands and got home. There was a puddle of antifreeze on the ground and the overflow tank was boiling out and it was also leaking from the radiator cap. I'm a single mom of 3 and usually do the work myself. I hope it's nothing serious but I don't know what to do!! Please help!

It sounds like your cooling fan isn't coming on. If it comes on when you turn the a/c on then the fan is good but just not coming on when the engine gets hot..... Easy enough to check, start the engine, turn on the a/c & see if the fan comes on. Then turn the engine & a/c off, restart with the a/c off and let it run while keeping an eye on the temp gauge. The fan should come on before it gets to 3/4s If it doesn't then the problems would need to be traced down...

Thanks! I decided I wasn't messing with trying to figure out the problem with the fans and I took it in. Sure enough I needed the fans replaced! Couldn't have been just a relay or something. Wanted to say thanks for pinpointing the problem for me!
