now that weather has cooled off,ac works great about 6-10 minutes then condensor fan fuse blows.Could the thermal switch on the compressor cause the problem?

I would suspect the fan is drawing too much current. With it unplugged does it feel free and coast.? Keep your fingers - if in doubt - disconnect neg on battery. Always use correct amp fuse. T

I gave the cooling fan and the condensor fan several spins. They both coasted about the same amount of time. The fan didn't have a tight feel to it,not any binding up noises. With the ignition in accessory position ,the fan operated fine and when shut off it didn't stop abruptly but coasted. When the compressor cycles on and off would that cause the fan to draw to much current and blow the fuse?

Ok - it's probably not the fans - at least that's reasonably ruled out. What else does that fuse cover? That's next to check out. Bear with me - keyboard car repair is tricky at best, T

First of all, thanks for your help in narrowing this problem down! I looked in owner's manual for fuses, it shows the condensor fan and the magnetic clutch (a/c) on this circuit.Any ideas on next step to take?Unimpressed

Have to admit I don't know. If the part is reasonable and easy just do it. As said befiore keep the fuses at recommended amps. Let us know how you make out - T

Should I go ahead and replace condensor fan? or could a failing a/c clutch magnetic coil cause a fuse to blow?

Just a thought here: (sometimes I get those) Try unplugging the fan and see if the fuse stays with you. That would be a good indicator. Watch you engine temps like a hawk it you try that. If it doesn't blow the fuse it does point to the fan motor. Careful - some are reverse threaded. Wish you luck and accuracy with this. No one wants to replace stuff that's not needed. A fan motor is not on the list of periodic maintenance. Let us all know how you make out. Keyboard car repair is tough at best, T
