I disconnected and removed the blower and jumpered it across the battery, and it ran. So the blower is good. However there was ice and water around the terminal connection to the blower inside the housing. I cleaned and dried the terminals and hooked it back up and it still would not run. I relplaced every fuse in the fuse box under the dash. There is a 30amp circuit breaker next to the left of the fuse box but it didn't appear to be popped and when I pushed on it it wouldn't go in any farther. There is a 30amp fuse under the hood and I swaped it with the 30amp fuse for the fuel injection and still nothing. Any ideas?

I don't know if this a new thread or not. I don't really know how to go about starting a new thread.

No you did perfect..... Going on to an old thread for a new problem gets confusing due to 2 different cars plus, it's an old thread so you probably won't get many responses.....

1st thing we need to see is if you have power going to the blower motor. Disconnect the connector going to the motor & get a test light or voltmeter, with the key on & fan switch turned on, probe both wires and see if you have 12v on one of the wires.....

I shoved two wires into the harnes recepticle then shorted the other ends with power on and the blower switch on and no sparks. I took that to mean that I wasn't getting power to the motor. That is when I checked the fuses ( changed them out actually) and checked the 30amp breaker next to the fuse box and switched the 30amp fuse under the hood with the 30amp fuse for the fuel system.

Thanks for your prompt reply. This car is out side and it is really cold in K.C. and I've been outside shoveling and working on this car since 8 A.M. so I am going to log out for awhile. I don't think I will be doing any more outside today unless you can think of something hot. I can drive without a heater, I don't need to take it more than a mile or two for anything for a few days.

Ok........This probably isn't the best means to test for power. Not real accurate & can damage the system. To run the tests to find the problem we are really going to need at a minimum a test light (which you can only use on 12v systems, definitely not the computer systems) without that I am limited to guessing which I'm not real comfortable doing just for the fact I'm not a good guesser....

If someone else has some ideas I haven't thought of I'm sure they'll jump in.......

O.K. I'll get a test light Monday. Man what a week-end. This whole thing started because I left the car at the top of the drive, knowing we had a big storm coming in and I didn't want to be stranded. But the wind forced the snow under the dash, I guess where the wires come through. Then it melted when I started the car yesterday to warm it up and the water traveled down the wires into the blower shroud and collected around the connection point. Then the power to the blower went off and the water froze there. Luckly I don't have to make any long trips.

Yea, thats a tough break & I can relate to that but it's probably best to wait & get the right equipment rather than to rush in and make things worse, sounds like you've pretty much done the basic stuff already and now you are going to have to trace down where the problem is....

Ok: Racing to catch up here and may have missed something already mentioned. You are in good hands with Sidom. I didn't see verification of both power AND body (typically one screw that holds blower motor will provide ground which could be missing. With a test light empowered from known power - battery fine touch things that should be ground and it should light. That tests the test light is operational so now see if the flare and body of blower are a ground as without the motor can't work - it needs both as everything does in the car that uses power. The typical casing/mounting of the blower is plastic and not ground-able by itself as a metal one (not used since dinosaurs roamed earth - smile)

If you don't have a simple test light I would get or get a new one that's LED (~ about $5 at even Wally World and at other places) as there's less, far less current going thru to make it light and vehicles 96 and newer with higher tech computers testing the wrong wires can cause issues or serious damage with even just the small incandescent bulb or regular test light.

Happy New Year and good luck with the fix,

T
