I have a 95 firebird and the a/c blows cold for about a minute or so then is just blowing warmer air, not hot, for a minute or so then it goes back to blowing cold. IT keeps doing this over and over.

I was told that it possibly needs recharged, but I didn't know since it keeps blowing cold still if it needed charged.

Any help would be great!! I just want to get this issue resolved before it gets too hot out.
Thanks,
Jon

Chances are you just need a boost. Not safe without a gauge set that only cost about $100 and if you want to do this it will quickly pay for itl

Ask away or if you want to visit me at HTTP://TomGreenleaf.AutoACsystems.com .. We are friendly sites and I will send folks from there to here and vs versa.

Hit back if you need more help and say what equipment you have, T

I check the level with a gauge before trying to add any and it reads the normal level it is supposed to be. I looked all over the system and do not see any leaks also. When the car is sitting there it blows cold air fine. When I am actually driving it is when it starts to go from cold to warm on and off. I had someone tell me it could be the clutch but I do not know enough about A/C systems to diagnose it. Any help with this matter would be a great help.
Thanks,
Jon

OK - Just re read and now I'm thinking that car may have a compressor cut out for more power. It gets this info from manifold vacuum so it may be that or a vacuum leak could fool it into thinking you are asking for lots of power.

Also - clutch gap could be right on the edge so measure it. About .20 or real close to that. They can be adjusted if that's what you find. As this is intermittent you'll have to chase down the vacuum lines to the intake manifold and any that are brittle should be replaced. If it works at all when it works it's probably NOT about refridgert yet. T
