Hey Hammer--
I don't doubt what you say, but if the fan worked would it run after I turned the car off for a spell like some other cars I've seen? I've had rthe car for at least 7 years and other then the first year maybe when I did notice the fan running....I've have never since that time heard or seen it run, but the a/c was flawless.
I had heard that the fan was needed in stop and go traffic where the motion of the car was not adequate enough to force air through to cool the system. They said it did not run all the time.. thank for any info
Neil

Well I finally found out that I can replace the LPCO switch without loosing any of the refrigerant. Apparently there is a check valve inside the accumulator to prevent any loss. So to replace the LPCO, you just unscrew it and put the new one back in!
