The system will blow hot and cold air, but it won't direct the air to blow on the front windshield, so it gets really foggy when it rains. What could be the potential causes for this, and how hard would it be to fix myself?

The mode control is operated by a cable. this cable could be broken or just fallen off. You will have to get under the dash and follow the cable to determine where it is failing.
According to the manual, the top of the dash has to be removed to access it.

Oh yea gotta love Chryslers............ Kinda like a blower motor on a 03 Caravan.. 6.0 hrs to change a blower motor due to ONE BOLT.

The book listed 1hr or 6hrs for the same model and didn't break it down other than dash r&r.
While I don't normally condone these type of short cuts, on this one I let the customer decide just for the fact it was so ridiculous..

I told him I can do it the right way for $600 or break one bolt & it will only be $100.

I'll let you guess which one he chose.......Cool

I guess my concern is where are the screws/bolts located to remove the top of the dash? They seem to be pretty well hidden. Also, is there any chance of disturbing the airbags from this procedure? I have never messed with anything behind the dash so I am proceeding cautiously. This isn't a new car- I just need a quick functional fix. Thanks for the replies!

Thanks for posting. I honestly WISH I didn't have to do it myself but having no money requires this. Yes, I will disconnect the negative terminal first.
