My 1995 Cadillac Eldorado over heats when I am going up hill. If I am driving on a straight away it seems to do fine. Around town, no problems. Start going up hill and the temperature rises til it over heats. Can anyone help me? Thank you, Jon

I know this car should tell you but check the coolant level yourself - at the radiator which may not have a cap so it's tricky to know it's full there.

The fan may not be coming on for radiator for coolant. You need to look as there could be two and perhaps only one works when A/C is requested and if cold enough out it won't stay on with that request as some cars would.

Two things are happening going uphill. The coolant if low is thrust rearward away from radiator AND there's a lot more load on the engine/cooling system than you might think. Many cars with electric fans don't need them much at any speed as air speed is enough but some do with smaller grille openings and profiles for natural airflow to be adequate.

The shrouding must be in place too. Even that one underneath (air dam/spoiler) that can scrape on those parking bumper things can get torn off. It's there for more than it's good looks - really does help with proper flow of air thru grille.

If you have seriously overheated then engine gaskets come into the game as well - you don't want that!

Yes, the check coolant level comes on the computer. I am constantly monitoring the temp. on my computer. Someone told me it could be the radiator, but after doing some research I am beginning to think it might be head gasketMad. I believe the fans are coming on, I will check for sure. This has been an ongoing problem for some time now. As long as I keep water in it ( I do have to fill it often ), and monitor the computer, it is fine. Thank you for your helpCool, I really appreciate the response. Jon
