94 Camry heat not working, sound of water Sign In

Hey there! About 2 weeks ago, I had to have my water pump, a whole bunch of belts replaced in my '94 Camry. Last week, I started hearing the sound of water when I would accelerate, and now another week later, my heat is hardly getting warm. Any help?? None of these were problems before I had to have the water pump replaced, which was done because my coolant was leaking. Thanks in advance!! :)

Sounds like there is air in the system. It could still have another leak or ir may not have been bled out properly the first time. I would have it filled properly and pressure tested for any more leaks.

Would you say this was an error that the mechanic made? I'd sure love to not have to pay MORE for a problem that wasn't there before the new water pump and belts!

Don't say it wasn't there before because the new water pump because it was. If you severely overheated the engine, then you did the damage right them. He can try bleeding more air out of the system but you may have serious internal damage already.

Actually, I never experienced any severe overheating. No smoke or the guage going way up or anything like that. I am however definitely certain that there was no sound of water when I accelerated before the new pump was put in, and that was after the second time I had to bring it back because the O-ring was incorrectly put in place, and so even after the first repair, it was still leaking coolant. But following the replacement of the O-ring, no more coolant leak, just the sound of water, and the heat working less than usual. Just trying to figure out what's goin on!

Already said but I'll concur that there's air in the system and you'll probably find it's low on coolant risking overheating and real damage. Check the level again now at the radiator and at the recovery tank. It's possible that radiator cap on radiator if set up that way isn't working properly such that you may find recovery tank too full and radiator level too low. Set ups with cap on radiator has to hold correct pressure, allow excess to recovery tank and then as engine cools allow return of coolant to radiator and engine - as engine cools and coolant shrinks it should allow sucking back coolant from the recovery tank and always be full,
