92 eldo climate control Sign In
92 Cadillac eldo - 4.9L -over 200,000mi- The climate control and mileage trip modules on dash are locked-up. climate control stuck on defrost I am unable to change settings- no up or down fan, no rear defrost, no on and off . Also minimal amount of air flow on defrost although blower sounds strong. Mechanic wants to remove dash to check wiring which could become costly. I know the car's computer has reset funtions through the climate control on dash which makes me wonder if it's a connection problem or computer.

It's probably either a bad control head or a bad programmer but it would have to be diagnosed properly to find out which.
Double check the vacuum supply coming from the engine to the programmer. It's under the dash on the passenger side.

Smile Follow up: Turned out to be a bad instrument cluster. Able to find a replacement one at the yard for $70. Cadillac only made the 92 cluster one year and change it up the next year. the cluster has speedometer,tach, other gages, as well as heating controls.

Thanks for following up. That would be the control head I was referring to. It's a shame they incorporated it into the dash cluster.
