2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee - A/C Blower Problems Sign In

My car has been in the shop several times as the blower stops blowing out cold air even though it sounds
like the blower is working. Jeep replaced blower motor, but that was not the problem. Sometimes, it corrects
itself if I turn the car off for an hour. I see others are having the same problem. Jeep seems to not believe
me as it does it intermittently (and not when it is in the shop); however, every trip we have take it on, the
blower has stopped blowing out cold air.Mad

Sounds like the evaporator core is freezing up into a big block of ice. There should be a thermostat to prevent that. It could be faulty. I'm betting that you are in the habit of turning the blower down to low.

I deleted your other 2 posts on other peoples questions. You need to stay with your own question.

Get you a stem thermometer and stick it into the center vent. That will tell you the discharge air temperature. If your driving and the temperature gets to 32 or below, that means the compressor isn't cycling off. From there you would have to watch the ac compressor command by the PCM using a high end scan tool to see if it is being requested to turn off the compressor. There probably is a thermo evaporator temperature sensor that is designed to keep the evaporator from freezing.

The service information for the independents isn't out yet for that year, so really don't know the system design.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

2012! = Warranty, right?

Without much ado just look for condensate (water) that should normally drip out to ground when you have cool air for a few minutes or so. If none it suggests it is freezing up and when off could make an excessive puddle of water when parked as the ice melts.

If not a fixed up wreck and you bought this new than this dealer may not have the experienced techs for A/C but should have an agreement with another or independent shop that does or at least they do that where I am,

Even though there is cold air behind the vents that just doesn't blow out?

How do you know what's behind the vents?

The air can't blow because it can't blow through the evaporator because it is a solid block of ice.
