Search Auto Parts Search 2009 F250 - No air flow from vents after running AC Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> AC Auto Repair Help Forum 558kilowatt New User Feb 5, 2016, 12:55 PM Post #1 of 4 (1595 views) 2009 F250 - No air flow from vents after running AC Sign In 09 F250 XL, 6.4L diesel, 197k miles Problem: After driving at interstate speeds (~75 mph) for 15-20 minutes with AC on I lose air flow from the vents. Fan is still running and toggles correctly between speeds just no air flow from any outlet (dash, defrost or floor). Turn AC button off for 10-15 minutes and air flow returns. Issue has not occurred while driving in town. This all started immediately after a local shop replaced the AC compressor (factory compressor locked up). I took it back to the shop and they ruled out the blower motor or blend door type problems and decided the evaporator located in the duct work was freezing over due to the condensor being blocked by metal shards leftover from when the compressor locked up. When I picked it up after having the condensor replaced, the tech informed me that if this didn't fix the problem it had to be the "inlet air door actuator" failing. He also informed me that to change the actuator the passenger air bag would have to be removed which would require a dealer to perform the work. So before taking it back to the local shop or even to a dealer I would welcome any opinions on what could be causing this issue. Thanks in advance! Neither of those things will cause a freeze up. That smacks of a frozen solid evaporator - no air flow anywhere but fine around town. Bet this A/C guru left a paper clip in the low pressure cut out switch to charge it. As Hammer Time said nothing mentioned yet would stop air flow totally except the system thinking it's totally OFF and that wouldn't change with driving around town which gives evap time to melt back.
