I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty with AC problem as follows:

3 yrs ago compressor disentegrated while driving Worked great til then.
Replaced compressor with Napa unit, charged unit with a134- did not cool.
Moved to Northeast so AC not needed, forgot about it.
Recently decided to move back to Arizona-NEED IT TO WORK.
Took it to mechanic who knew nothing who vac'd the system, check for leaks, and recharged it. did not cool
It became obvious that he did not know the system as he thought parts that don't exist in my system were bad.
I cleaned the condensor (very dirty), replaced the dryer and line to evaporator-began to cool- not as cool as new but cool enough for the drive.
Now that I'm here (Az) it stopped working again. When I checked the pressure it was very high (red on the guage that came with the a134). I relieved the pressure on the high side by pushing the needle valve on the high side. I relieved it down to 20lbs on the low side, the recharged it. It is cooling again but very poorly.
I am on a low fixed income so I cannot afford to have a shop guess and fix on my dime.
Is this fixable?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff Griffin

2005 Jeep Libery Sport
3.7 v6
Napa compressor with about 20 hours on it
Pressures when first mech. had it hooked to professional machine- 45-60 low side, 200 to 350 on high side, NOT COOLING.

This is not a surprise. This is why A/C repairs should only be done by professionals. Throwing a new compressor on there was a big mistake. When that old compressor came apart it sent debris all through the system causing restrictions. Putting as new compressor on there will only serve tio ruin the new compressor which you have likely done by now. You also never resolved whatever issue caused the first compressor to go and that is also a problem.

So, is there a proceedure to clean the system? , Or do I junk the car?
I started with a Professional-he knew less than I.
I would appreciate any help.
Jeff Griffin
When I took the compressor in, (bad one) the clutch is what disentegrated-
I would like to repair myself as the car has 160k miles on it and is not worth 2k worth of repairs.
Thanks,
Jeff Griffin

Sure, you could do the whole job over again along with the condenser, expansion valve and flush that should have been done the first time but if you overlook a problem that a tech would not, you could be doing it a third time.
