2005 Jeep Liberty ac cold, then hot, next day cold again!
2005 Jeep Liberty 4wd, 3.7L 136000 miles

I had the entire ac system replaced about six months ago including compressor, lines, condenser and cooling fan, two speed. Compressor was noisy so it was replaced about three months ago. Yesterday ac was fine, drove about 50 miles highway parked couple hours later drove about twelve miles parked ac fine. After about one hour started vehicle and only hot air. I tried turning off, different settings, nothing but hot air driving sixty miles highway no ac. This morning started vehicle and now cold ac. Took it to the shop that did cooling fan and they checked out system everything working fine, pressure fine, refrigerant fine, and drove today in town and highway parking and in and out with no problems! Any ideas? The ac work in under warranty. Thanks for any ideas.

When you say hot air, do you mean ambient temp or is the heat on?

Can you confirm if the compressor is running/engaged when this happens?

The first thing you need to find out is if the compressor is disengaging or not. Take a look when it is operating and not operating so you will know what to look for.

If you find out the compressor is cutting out, here is a trick to find out if it is the compressor itself. With the engine running and the AC turned on, get a long stick or bar and carefully poke the end of the compressor and see if it engages. Be very careful doing this as it will kick the bar back at you when it starts so be ready for that. If it suddenly engages, you have a bad compressor. If not, the rest of the circuit will have to be tested.
