Arggh! Don't know my Beamers well the priciple apply to all. Did you mean -2C or Fahrenheit?

Systems are supposed to shut down with either temp sensing thermistors or simply looking at the low pressure readings as those tell the exact temp as well. They get fooled with low refrigerant and shut off compressor.

Did it work for any time with the recharge? More info on that needed.

Can you get just a static pressure now? They rent gauges for free at major auto parts places but need to know the static pressure now and throw in the rough temperature around the car. They used to sell tire pressure type/pen sized quick pressure checkers but haven't see one in ages!

The chances of any system failure is about 2/3rds or more that you have a leak only to be found and fixed. Could be something as stupid as a port seal or "O" ring or anything in the system - it's a total guess without the static pressure now before I'd spend a dime on this,

It's good and bad news. The good is you pretty well know the basic functioning system is intact but getting wrong info from some sensor. A/C electrical varies tons car to car but the basics don't and the basics work so I'm lost except to suggest trusting a code that says a sensor is an issue.

Are you apt to fix this yourself? If so we can carry on and maybe find locations for sensors that might be a nightmare to get at??

Please answer some simple questions,

* What is the static pressure now?

* Did you mean Celsius or Fahrenheit when you said -2 degrees??

If you want comprehensive diagrams just get the AllData.com guide for your car. I don't have one for it as they cost per car or more for a trade edition. I'm retired so can't get at part locations so easy.

It's a Beamer! You gotta expect things to cost not just more but tons more on some of these high end cars! It's kinda like yachting if you have to ask how much you probably should do something else. One family member owns a $70,000 BMW in LA. Some routine maintenance runs over a thousand bucks!
