2002 Z24 No AC/Defrost

HI All, Had my AC system pressure checked and all is fine. My system wasn't working last year and when the system was pressure checked everything started working fine...hmmm. Then at the end of the summer it stopped again. I figured out by accident that if I have my AC button turned on before I start the car it would work. Now I have to do the same this year. So, if I forgot to turn the AC on I would just have to wait until I hit a red light, turn off the car, hit the AC button, restart the car and all was well. Well, my trick is not working anymore. The blowers are working fine but now my defrost is not kicking in either. When the defrost or AC was turned on you could hear the motor idle adjust, not now though. The defrost does not cool at all either. The car is not running hot at all either (even in the stop and stop and go 98 degrees days we just had) and the radiator fluild is good too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
