2001 taurus uses defrost port only	Sign In

I have a 2001 taurus SES with rotary climate controls. Today I installed an aftermarket radio, which required moving the climate controls to the new install kit. Now the a/c /floor/defrost knob only blows air out of the defrost port. If I turn it to max a/c it blows a/c through the defrost port, but it is a/c. There is a orange hose the comes out of the switch that is not connected to anything, is this important?

Yep. It will be important. That is more than likely a vacuum line. When the vacuum is lost, the system defaults to defrost.

Does anyone know where this orange tube connects to? I dont see an open port.

Have you checked to see if there is any little dashpots that have the hose off it? My diagrams do not show color of hoses here at the house.

i figured it out....i lowered the glove box, and looked up from there, and there is a cylindrical silver thing, i connected the hose to there and it all works fine now...thank you for your help.
