The heater switch on my 2001 accord doesn't work in position 1 or 2. It will work in position 3 and 4. Is the problem the switch itself or is there a fuse or some other electrical component I can check. Is it something I can troubleshoot myself or does the dashboard have to be removed to get at the switch.trying to minimize the cost. Thank you Frank B.

That is most likely a bad blower motor resister. It's located in the heater housing, right next to the blower motor, under the dash on the passenger side. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks for the advice! Can I ask you this? Before I start digging into this, what should I be looking for when I get under the dash? Is the resister visibile, how do I locate it, how do I test it, is it easily removable and where do I get a new one. Thanks, Frank

You will see it plugged in right next to the blower motor. If you buy the part you will see what it looks like.
