1998 volvo no heat

1998 Volvo v70 5 cyl. non-turbo w/ 176,000 mi. Problem started when electronic climate control head unit function lights stayed blinking and nothing would work. Ckecked all damper motors and cleaned all electrical connections,all found to be clean and ohmed out the same. I then replaced the head unit. Now the problem is no heat blows, and when control is on the full defrost the a/c kicks on. Also, the heater core lines are hot.Please help, wife and kids need heat here in Minnesota.
