Hello Everyone,

I have a 1995 C220 and the two little fans that cool the condenser down stopped working. The Air is still cold very cold in fact. So I took a wire and put it on the hot fuse and the two wires in the front. The fan come on with both speeds. I checked all fuses in truck and under the hood. what am I missing? Is there some kind of relay there? Or will I have to replace these fans?

Thank you so much for your help.

First off I don't know this car well at all but basics of the year still may help.

Fans if jumped and working are fine by themselves. There could be a sensor or relay preventing them from coming on.

?? There may be nothing wrong! Some cars sense high pressure and use that pressure on the high side cut out switch thru the car's computer to tell it how much fan if any it needs! This way fans don't work when airflow is enough or cold enough or can transfer heat without the added help.

Since you say it still get plenty cold it suggests it's designed this way. Do these fans also cool the engine's radiator? Do they come on as needed for that and again they may not if not needed. You shouldn't be seeing temp creeping up.

If you want to test my guess at this, just cover the condenser for a short while making sure you don't overheat the car at all and if automatic by high pressure to trigger fans they would get hotter=higher pressure and come on.

I'd want to know that it operates properly and as intended too. It's unusual if those fans are not working especially while you would notice sitting still with hood open if that's when that it still cooled properly - therein lies a mystery or it's designed that way and isn't needing the airflow at that moment you are observing this,
